Trusting in the tough times

We all go through difficult times in life when it is hard to keep going and trust the Lord to pull us through.

The temptation may be to just abandon ship and wing it instead.

The late Corrie Ten Boom, a Holocaust survivor and award-winning author, had this to say about facing life’s trials: “When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”

Whatever your problem may be today you can take solace in the fact that this is not God’s first rodeo.

He’s been there and done that and has lots left over to help you out, as well.

The requirement, though, is that you stay the course and trust Him through your time of trial.

There is an old children’s Sunday school chorus that goes like this: “Got any rivers you think are uncrossable? Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through? God specializes in things thought impossible. He does the things others cannot do.”

We are beginning a new month, with the glorious fall days of October right ahead of us.

Why not decide today that you will endeavor to put your trust in the Lord, to give Him the reins and the control of your life?

We have a tendency to mess things up when we try to handle all of life’s struggles on our own.

Help is there from God, but we must accept it.

That first step is the hardest but it makes the journey worthwhile.
