Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad is another step closer to realizing her Olympic dream.

The 16-year-old Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer was invited and will be spending all week at the Canadian Development National Team’s Technical Camp in Toronto.

Clare Broad, Madison’s mom, told the Sydenham Current it is an amazing opportunity for her daughter.

“This is her next step towards her Olympic dream,” she said.

Kyle Pinsonneault, Madison’s coach, said only a select group of swimmers got the invite.

“It was a very small group of swimmers selected for this camp,” he told the Sydenham Current.

“I believe only three swimmers total along with there coaches are here. She will be training with the National Training Centre team. It will be tough practice, but the amount of technology and expertise on the deck is something that will be a huge benefit to Maddy when she goes back home to train again.”

Pinsonneault said the experience will be a good test for the UCC student.

“The week will not be just a physical test of fitness, but this will be a mental test to be able to keep up with the swimmers in the pool and get a first hand taste of what some of the fastest girls in the world are doing daily,” he said.

“It it a great experience for her overall. Lots of hard work to do this week.”

The camp runs until Saturday.

Broad recently captured three medals at the Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary back in August.

She also competed in the Olympic Trials back in April.
