More ‘heroes’ needed for CCAC awards

We all know an exceptional caregiver who goes above and beyond to take care of our loved ones.

Show them how important they are to you by nominating them for the Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre’s 4th annual Heroes In The Home recognition awards.

There is one week left to submit nominations at www.thepowerofcaregiving.ca. The goal for this year is to honour 100 Heroes across Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.

They are currently sitting at about 30 nominations.

“It’s very important to our CCAC to honour informal caregivers who are helping to take care of their loved ones when we’re not able to be there; many of these caregivers are also raising a family and working a full-time job,” said Dave Richie, Lead, Communications & Public Affairs.

“We also want to show our appreciation for the paid caregivers who are providing exceptional care to seniors, people with disabilities, sick children and others. These do not have to be CCAC employees. They can be any care provider in the community.”

The Erie St. Clair CCAC has honoured more than 200 Heroes over the last three years.

“The October 21st deadline is fast approaching, so please don’t put it off and miss out on the chance to show your appreciation to a deserving caregiver,” said Richie. “These people are not doing what they do for the recognition, but in our past Heroes in the Home celebrations, you can certainly see how touched they have been by the honour.”

To nominate a Hero, or to get more information, go to www.thepowerofcaregiving.ca. All nominees and their nominators are invited to one of three recognition events, where their story will be told and they’ll receive a certificate of appreciation and a gift. The events will be held on:

– Tuesday, November 15 – The Riviera, Windsor

– Thursday, November 17 – Aristo’s Banquet Room, Chatham

– Tuesday, November 22 – Dante Club, Sarnia

If you are not able to access the online nomination form, please contact Linda Caron at 1-888-310-8881 x. 7216 to make alternative arrangements.
