Impaired driving charges laid in St. Clair Township

Lambton OPP officials allege: Alert OPP officer performs traffic stop and charges driver with impaired operation.

On April 26, 2024, at 11:16 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on Murray Street in Corunna, St. Clair Township, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, a 55-year-old Corunna woman, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 6, 2024.

The Lambton OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
