Domestic assault leads to charges


A Chatham man is in custody after a domestic incident in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police officials say yesterday, a man and his girlfriend engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into an alleged physical altercation.

Police say the man allegedly assaulted the woman and fled their apartment in Chatham prior to police arrival.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested in Wallaceburg.

The 27-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
