Residents are being encouraged to take part in an Earth Week clean-up initiative later this month aimed at improving neighbourhoods and shared spaces across Walpole Island First Nation.
The community event is scheduled for Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with supplies available to participants at the Governance Building between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on both days. Organizers say grabbers, gloves, garbage bags and sharps containers will be provided to support safe clean-up efforts.
Participants are also invited to gather in the council chambers from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. each evening, where pizza and refreshments will be available.
The initiative is part of a broader Earth Week effort encouraging residents to take pride in their surroundings by cleaning up outdoor spaces throughout the community.
Organizers are also inviting residents to submit photos or videos of their clean-up efforts to the Walpole Island First Nation Council Facebook page for a chance to be entered into a live prize draw.
For more information, residents can contact organizers at 519-627-1481, extension 1280, or visit the Walpole Island First Nation website.
