Bullying Awareness Week is an opportunity for people across Canada to get involved, not by waiting for ‘someone else’ to do something, but rather for people to work together on preventing bullying through education and awareness.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service acknowledges that bullying should not be defined solely as a ‘school problem’ but rather as a community issue.

This week, officers are showing their support by wearing pink uniform shirts.

“Bullying is an issue that touches everyone regardless of their age, gender, culture or religion,” says CKPS Youth Officer Constable Derek Shaw.

“As Youth Officer, I see the effects of bullying on a daily basis. Bullying is a serious issue which requires everyone to stand up and speak out. Whether it’s in person or online, everyone has the right to be respected.”
