Cruiser rammed, pair arrested after police chase

A cruiser was smashed into and a pair of Windsor residents were arrested after a police chase on Sunday in Chatham-Kent.

Police officials say last night around 6:45 p.m. police responded to a break and enter in progress in the area of Finn Line.

The homeowner interrupted the crime, called police and followed the suspect vehicle.

Officers located the black van and the driver turned her lights off as she approached Blenheim.

Officers continued to follow the van and a stop stick was successfully deployed on Creek Road.

The driver continued and finally came to rest on Lacroix Street in Chatham after ramming a police cruiser.

The driver and passenger fled on foot, however both were arrested a short distance away.

Through investigation, police learned that van was stolen from Fletcher and was full of property.

The driver, a 35-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with several property related and driving offences.

Her passenger, a 28-year-old Windsor man has also been charged with property related offences.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

No one was injured.

Significant damage was caused to both the van and cruiser.

Both were towed from the scene.
