Two straight wins for the Lakers

The Wallaceburg Lakers have won two straight games for the first time all season, after a thrilling 3-2 OT win over Petrolia.

The Lakers were up 2-0, after goals from Justin Lindsay and Trevor Waller.

However, the Flyers clawed there way back with one goal in the second period and the equalizer at the 17:08 mark of the third.

Lindsay was the hero for the Lakers in OT, scoring the game winning goal at the 3:06 mark of the extra frame.

Petrolia out-shot Wallaceburg 58-19.

The Lakers remain in last place in the Hobbs Division with a 3-30-1 record, still 5 points behind the 8th place Flyers.

Wallaceburg will host Blenheim in their next game on Wednesday.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston and Tye Belanger of the Vancouver Stealth will open their 2017 National Lacrosse League season with back-to-back games this weekend.

In game one, the Stealth visit the Roughnecks inside the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight at 6 p.m. local time.

Last year the teams split their season series 2-2.

The Stealth will travel to Colorado on Saturday to take on a Mammoth team that defeated the Buffalo Bandits 12-8 in last week’s season opener.

The Stealth’s home opener will take place on January 14, against the Calgary Roughnecks at the Langley Events Centre.

In his rookie season with the Stealth last season, Durston played in 17 games, scoring 17 goals and adding 21 assists for 38 points. These totals were 5th in NLL rookie scoring. He also collected 53 loose balls and had 27 penalty minutes.

Belanger is entering his 5th season in the NLL, and his first with Vancouver. He was acquired in a trade with New England back in October. Belanger has appeared in 75 regular season and playoff games and totaled 1,065 minutes in net in his NLL career. He has a record of 8-12 and has allowed 224 Goals Against. Over the course of his career he has posted a 13.16 G.A.A and .741 save percentage.
