Environment Canada says a wild and windy night is expected, as a special weather statement has been issued in Chatham-Kent.
Environemnt Canada officials say milder air is paying a brief visit this evening along with occasional rain and drizzle. Meanwhile, a strong cold front will move through the region later tonight, with very strong southwesterly winds, along with colder and drier air expected to herald its arrival.
Southwesterly winds of 50 gusting to 80 km/h are expected to develop later tonight as the front moves through.
A few higher gusts of 85 to possibly 90 km/h may occur in more exposed localities.
These winds are strong enough to cause some minor tree and building damage, and a few local power failures are also possible.
Driving conditions may also be difficult at times due to the strong and gusty winds.
Winds will slowly diminish by Wednesday morning.
