Durston scores first of season, Belanger sees first action

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston scored his first goal of the season for the Vancouver Stealth on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the Stealth also lost their home opener 14-10 to the Calgary Roughnecks.

Durston finished with the 1 goal and he added 2 assists.

Wallaceburg’s Tye Belanger made his Stealth debut recording 39 minutes of action.

He came into the game in relief of Tyler Richards who allowed eight goals in 20 minutes of play.

Although Belanger took the loss, this night will be remembered by one play:

“I was anticipating a shot because the clock was winding down, but they passed it backdoor, luckily I got my stick on it and I was told I made a highlight reel save,” Tye Belanger told stealthlax.com.

“We were in a bit of a hole by the time I got into the game, but my position was to get in there and give them a chance. We had a late push but came up a bit short but it was nice to see the guys fight that hard in the fourth.”

Vancouver is tied with Colorado for 1st in the NLL West Division, both with 2-1 records.

The Stealth will be in Buffalo on Saturday.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Herreweyers records two points in debut

Wallaceburg’s Zach Herreweyers made his NLL debut with the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday.

The first round pick recorded two assists, as the Mammoth topped New England 11-10.

Colorado will host Calgary on Friday.

Game starts at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.
