Meth found, drug charges laid in Wallaceburg

A Walpole Island man faces drug trafficking charges after being stopped on his bicycle in Wallaceburg on Thursday night.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say last night an officer was travelling on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg when he observed a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk with no light on his bicycle.

The cyclist was stopped by the officer and through investigation it was learned that the man was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, weigh scale, cell phone and money.

A 28-year-old, Walpole Island man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with his release conditions for being in possession of a weigh scale.

He is being held pending a bail hearing.
