Possible freezing rain coming to the region

A low pressure area brewing in the Southern Plains States is forecast to deepen as it tracks northeast towards Southern Ontario early this week.

As a result, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say this weather system will bring significant precipitation to Southern Ontario on Tuesday.

Latest indications suggest that freezing rain is quite possible Tuesday before changing over to a soaking rain as considerably milder air pays a brief visit.

Poor travelling conditions are expected, especially in areas that receive freezing precipitation.

There remains some uncertainty as to the exact track of the low, which will affect how much freezing rain or rain will fall in a particular location.

Environment Canada will continue to closely monitor this weather system. Warnings may be issued as required.
