An elderly man from the Plympton-Wyoming area has died following a crash on Highway 40.

OPP officials say on Friday February 10 just after 3 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 40, south of Wellington Road in the City of Sarnia.

Lambton OPP, along with Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Sarnia Fire Department, located a single motor vehicle in a field just west of Highway 40.

A 79-year-old male from the Plympton-Wyoming area was located in the vehicle and transported to hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced deceased.

Highway 40 between Wellington Road and Confederation Line was closed for several hours while Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) was on scene assisting with the investigation.

Investigation and a post-mortem conducted on Sunday, February 12, determined that the male party died as a result of a pre-existing medical condition and not as a result of the collision.

The name of the deceased is being withheld.
