The Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network (ESC LHIN) board of directors has announced that Ralph Ganter has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Ganter was formerly the Acting CEO for the Erie St. Clair LHIN and has over 30 years of health care experience.

“I am honoured to be selected as the new CEO of the Erie St. Clair LHIN,” Ganter said in apress release.

“Having been with this organization since its early days, I have been very fortunate to work with some very outstanding people. I look forward to continuing the great work that has been done and to find new and innovative ways to improve patient care in our community.”

LHIN officials say staff know that the reason he comes into work every day is because he believes in what he is doing and strives to make a difference in people’s lives.

“Over the past several months, in working with Ralph in the Acting CEO role, it has become apparent to our Board that he has not only the professional qualifications and experience to lead our organization in this time of change, but also the personal characteristics that will enable us to focus our efforts on patients and families, health service providers, and staff,” stated Martin Girash, Board Chair, Erie St. Clair LHIN.

Originally trained as a Respiratory Therapist, Ralph’s experience continued to broaden as a Respiratory Therapy Director, a Utilization Manager, a Hospital Consultant, and a Program Manager, Hospitals, for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care,” LHIN officials said.

With this extensive health care experience, Ralph joined the ESC LHIN team in 2005 and worked as Senior Director, Health System Design and Implementation.

Ralph is a resident of Sarnia, and his education background includes a BA, Masters of Health, and Masters of Business Administration.

ESC LHIN covers the regions of Chatham-Kent, Sarnia/Lambton, and Windsor/Essex which includes over 636,000 people. The ESC LHIN plans and funds over a billion dollars a year to our region’s health care providers – services from hospitals to Meals on Wheels.

The position became available for the LHIN, after the firing of long-time CEO Gary Switzer back in May of 2016.
