The MPP in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has endorsed Andrew Scheer in the Federal Progressive Conservative leadership race.

“With such a crowded field, I believe that Andrew Scheer stands out amongst the pack, not just for his leadership, but also for having a brand of conservatism that lines up pretty closely to mine,” Monte McNaughton said in an email.

“He believes in smaller government, standing up for parents and families, and saying no to the Trudeau carbon tax. Andrew Scheer is a real conservative.”

Scheer is a Canadian Member of Parliament who served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 2011 to 2015.

At age 32, he was the youngest person to serve in this capacity in Canadian parliamentary history.

“I was honoured when Andrew asked me to Chair his Ontario Campaign,” McNaughton said.

“I believe Andrew has what it takes to lead a resurgent Conservative Party of Canada to victory in 2019 and that is why I signed on and joined the campaign.”
