A Muirkirk man faces charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Ridgetown.
Police officials say early this morning around 1:30 a.m. a man was involved in a disturbance in front of a local tavern located at 30 Main Street in Ridgetown.
The bar staff were separating two men when an officer arrived on location.
The officer, who arrived in a fully marked police cruiser, who was in full police uniform, with the word ‘Police’ in large letters on the front and back of his vest was struck in the head by the man.
A 21-year-old Muirkirk man was arrested and charged with assault police.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and later released with a court date of April 25, 2017.
