Walpole Island Hawks hockey bag stolen in Wallaceburg

Police are investigating after a hockey bag filled with equipment was stolen from a storage shed in Wallaceburg.

Officials with Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers said the incident, which is their Crime of the Week, took place during the early morning hours of Saturday April 22.

“Unknown suspects cut their way into the fenced compound of a Gillard Street storage facility,” Crime Stoppers officials said.

“It appears that the suspects arrived on an ATV. Once inside the thieves pried opened the doors on several storage units and removed the contents from inside.”

One of the items removed was a black, white and orange Bauer hockey bag with the Walpole Island Hawks logo embroidered on it and the carrying straps are a custom design of orange and white.

Inside the bag were two pairs of skates, helmet, pants, coat and one pair of Hawks customized black and gold gloves.

Total value of the theft is $1,000 and damages to the units is in excess of $100.

“Items like these are priceless to you as an athlete and Crime Stoppers would like to return them to the owner,” Crime Stoppers official say.
