Eric Johnston from the Wallaceburg Optimist presented a cheque to Kevin Roocroft, a member of the Wallaceburg Canada Day Committee, earlier this week for $2,500.

This amount will be used specifically towards the ‘free children’s area’ where all local children can come out between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for FREE face painting, glitter tattoos, Canada Day Tattoos, Balloon Twisting, inflatables and the cow train.

The Wallaceburg Canada Day Committee says they have a wonderful day lined up for Canada Day.

Opening ceremonies featuring dignitaries, the singing of O Canada in English and French, cutting of the cake and free cupcakes, Large Marge Eating contest (sponsored by Big Chief Restaurant), vendor shopping area with various local direct sales and crafters, Wallaceburg Red Devil’s will be hosting a BBQ, Wallaceburg Lakers Tent, food trucks, musical entertainment by Three’s A Crowd, Bed By Nine & Vinyl Revivyl, and much more.

The evening will be capped off with the community joining to hear O Canada performed by Eddie Babcock on the bagpipes and finally the amazing display of fireworks immediately after.

The group is inviting all local sports groups, as well as any organizations and local businesses, to participate in this year’s event.

There is an opportunity to host an information tent or a fundraiser for your group.
