Attempted murder charges laid after a stabbing in Sarnia

A Sarnia man is facing attempted murder charged following an incident early this morning.

Sarnia Police officials say on May 23, at approximately 1:55 a.m., a confrontation allegedly occurred between two individuals in the area of Mitton Street and Wellington Street in the City of Sarnia.

It appears that the confrontation relates to one party attempting to steal property from the victim, police say.

During the alleged physical confrontation a 27-year-old man was stabbed.

The victim was first transported to hospital, locally, and then sent to London, Ontario, for further treatment of his injuries where he remains in stable condition.

On May 23, 2017, at approximately 6 a.m., officers located the 27-year-old suspect from Sarnia in the 100 block of Brock Street South where he was arrested without incident.

The accused now faces charges for armed robbery, attempt murder, and breach of probation.

The accused remains in custody awaiting his bail hearing.
