Throwback Thursday is sponsored by Cavanagh Funeral Home:

CAVANAGH-FUNERAL HOME-2017

It’s Throwback Thursday once again!

Here is an old photograph of the Avro Anson that crashed in Wallaceburg in 1942. The Avro Anson is a British twin-engined, multi-role aircraft that served with the Royal Air Force, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Canadian Air Force and numerous other air forces before, during, and after the Second World War.

Apparently the airplane crashed north of town and almost every child in town had a souvenir from the wreckage.

Details about how or why the plane crashed were not provided. Does anyone have more information?

Thanks to the Wallaceburg & District Museum for the photograph!

If you have an old photo that you would like to see on the Sydenham Current, e-mail Tami at sydenhamcurrent@gmail.com.
