Dresden Rotary Summer Concert Series starts Thursday

Dresden is continuing to celebrate Canada 150 at their first installment of the Rotary Summer Concert Series on Thursday evening, July 6.

There will be a free barbecue and Canada 150 Birthday Cake for all in attendance.

There will also be a 50-50 draw

Don and Bonnie Cook will provide entertainment at the event.

The barbecue starts at 6 p.m. and the entertainment runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Here is a list of the entertainment throughout the summer:

New book app

Chatham-Kent Public Library has joined several other public libraries in Ontario to create a shared collection of ebooks and eaudiobooks in cloudLibrary (formerly 3M Cloud). This new ‘cloud link’ means CKPL patrons have access to a shared collection ten times bigger than before – over 38,000 books and growing.

CKPL patrons will still have first chance at the titles CKPL purchases but will now also be able to borrow titles from the other libraries’ collections when they are not being used by their patrons.

The cloudLibrary app is very easy to use with one-click checkout and downloads. Once a title has been selected, whether using the cloudLibrary app or website, the title is added to your cloudLibrary shelf and automatically synchronized across all your devices.

Classic Vehicle Tour coming to C-K

The Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village and C.M. Wilson Conservation Area are thrilled to announce the 2017 Canadian Coast to Coast Classic Vehicle Tour is stopping for 1 night only in Chatham-Kent.

Experience a special showing of these classic vehicles as they celebrate their 50th tour while Canada celebrates its 150th. This will be a FREE public event.

This is a “trip of a lifetime” for coasters says Jerry Tremblay; Canadian Coasters member from Chatham-Kent who travelled with his wife early June to meet with the Coasters in B.C. to begin the journey.

Classic vehicles are driven all the way from the West Coast to the East Coast. They will rest for the night at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area and proudly display their vehicles for the general public to view from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 in the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village “Village”.

Vendors will be available on site to purchase food and souvenir items to commemorate the day.
