Water Wells First is set to hold a demonstration at the Chatham-Kent Museum, 75 William St. N in Chatham on Thursday, in order to get the attention on Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.

While Premier Wynne is touring Southwestern Ontario the group is inviting her to stop at the Pumfrey Family residence on Bush Line in Chatham Township to “look at the black well water first hand.

“Water Wells First learned from the (Ministry of Environment and Climate Change) this week all charges against North Kent Wind have been dropped by the MOECC legal branch for construction of a control tower without the REA Permit,” said Kevin Jakubec, spokesperson for Water Wells First in a press release.

“The explanation provided to Water Wells First by MOECC staff was the Ministry of Environment does not consider the meteorological control tower that was pile driven a permanent structure. This defies common sense. The tower is 100 metres high and is secured permanently by steel beams anchored deep into the bedrock,” Jakubec said.

“The steel piles cannot be removed. The foundation is permanent. The implications are clear to our community dependant on groundwater. This means North Kent Wind has come into our community. Destroyed a young family’s water supply and the Ontario government is doing nothing about it.”

Jakubec said Water Wells First intends to raise several questions with Premier Wynne on Thursday.

Wynne is slated to be at the Chatham-Kent Museum at 2:45 p.m. and Truly Green Farms at 3:45 p.m.

“Is the Liberal government in collusion with Samsung and Pattern the developers of the North Kent Wind farm?” Jakubec said.

“How can the Liberal government be seen as good stewards of water security when corporations like Samsung can walk into a rural communities with impunity and take away Water from Ontario children and not be held accountable? Water Wells First will ask Premier Wynne for an investigation into this travesty.”

Jakubec added: “Will Premier Wynne call for a public inquiry into why the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change at every opportunity to collect evidence of groundwater contamination in Chatham-Kent refuses to do so?”
