Failing to attend court leads to arrest

A Walpole Island man faces another court date, after failing to attend his first.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say in May 2017, a man was released from custody for the offence of assault.

He was required to attend court on July 19, 2017, but he allegedly did not appear, police say.

As a result, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

On Thursday at around 10 a.m. a 29-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested on the warrant.

He was charged with failing to attend court and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters.

He was later released with a court date of September 6, 2017.
