Man caught with break-in tools in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man faces charges after allegedly being caught with break-in tools on Gillard Street.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say early this morning at approximately 1 a.m. an officer was on general patrol on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg, due to the area being victimized by several break and enters recently.

Police say the man was observed riding a bicycle on Gillard and because there was no light on the bike, a traffic stop was initiated.

Through investigation, it was learned that the man was currently wanted by another police service for theft and fail to attend court.

Therefore, he was arrested on the warrant.

While being searched incident to arrest, miscellaneous tools were allegedly located on the man.

The 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was additionally arrested and charged with possession of break and enter tools.

He was then transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a court date of Friday, October 20, 2017.

Arrangements were made by CKPS for the transportation of the man to the other police service.
