Crawford back in as fire chief, search on-going

Former Chatham-Kent Fire Chief Bob Crawford has stepped into the position of Chatham-Kent Fire, Paramedic and EMS Chief, while the municipality continues their search to replace former chief Ken Stuebing.

Municipal officials say Stuebing’s last day of work was Friday. Last month he was named Fire Chief for the regional municipality of Halifax.

Crawford, currently General Manager of Community Development for the municipality, held the position of Fire Chief for more than a decade prior to Stuebing’s arrival.

Chatham-Kent Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire said the recruiting process for the chart Fire Chief’s position is underway but there is no firm deadline for replacement, municipal officials said.

“We wish former Chief Stuebing well and were gratified to have someone of Bob Crawford’s ability to fill the chief’s position in the interim,:Municipal officials,” Shropshire said in a press release.
