A motorcycle crash in Southwest Middlesex has claimed the life of a Chatham man.
OPP officials say on October 22, at approximately 3:45 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin County OPP, Munsee Delaware Police Service (MDPS) and the Middlesex-London Emergency medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Melbourne Road, between Duff Line and Carroll Road, Southwest Middlesex.
Police say a motorcycle rider was travelling northbound on Melbourne Road when the motorcycle left the roadway and entered the east ditch.
71-year-old, Charles Shaw of Chatham died as a result of the collision.
Police say no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) officers attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
As a result, Melbourne Road, between Duff Line and Jubilee Road was closed to traffic for approximately five hours.
