Cocaine, pot, magic mushrooms seized during bust

Cocaine, pot, magic mushrooms and morphine was seized and five people were arrested after a drug bust in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say last night at around 8 p.m. members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Section, assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team, executed the Warrant at residence in Chatham.

Upon entry into the residence, four men, ages 34, 32, 29 and 27 years, and one 34-year-old woman was located, police say.

A systematic search of the residence allegedly recovered cocaine, cannabis marihuana, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), cannabis resin and Hydromorphone.

Also located were contaminated electronic digital scales, contaminated drug paraphernalia and approximately $5,200 in currency

All five individuals are charged with the following offenses:

– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine), sec 5(2)CDSA

– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cannabis Marihuana), sec 5(2)CDSA

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cannabis Resin), sec 4(1)CDSA

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Psilocybin), sec 4(1)CDSA

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydromorphone), sec 4(1)CDSA

They were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where four of the individuals were released with a court date in November 2017.

One of the men has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
