“In my riding of Lambton—Kent—Middlesex, your Ministry is pushing ahead with two new wind turbine developments,” McNaughton said.

“Since the start of construction, 14 water wells have become turbid and undrinkable.”

McNaughton said in written release the project on the banks of Otter Creek threatens some of the best agricultural lands in Ontario and up to 24 species at risk.

He said it is also within a major flight path for migratory birds.

Even worse, the construction of this wind farm may cause local water wells to become undrinkable by polluting the water table with black shale and other heavy metals, McNaughton said.

“Even though the government has suspended further green energy procurement, they continue to push ahead with these two projects. If stopping turbine construction makes economic, environmental and public health sense, why does the Minister of Energy continue to sign-off on building more and more industrial wind turbines in my riding of Lambton—Kent—Middlesex”, McNaughton said.

Last week, McNaughton tabled hundreds of signed petitions opposing the ongoing Otter Creek Wind Development at Queen’s Park.
