The Mufflerman auto service shop in Wallaceburg will be closing its doors for good on Friday, December 1.

An employee at the Wallaceburg business confirmed the news with the Sydenham Current, but they chose not go into further detail.

Many customers received a letter in the mail from The Mufflerman on Friday.

“Due to economic conditions beyond our control, The Mufflerman in Wallaceburg will close operations on December 1, 2017,” the letter says.

“We have served this community for 29 years and we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during that time.”

The letter says all warranties will be honoured at the Sarnia and Chatham locations.

Customers also received a $20 coupon in the mail to go along with the letter.

Karen Debergh, president of the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce, said she did not know the exact reason why the business was closing.

“It is always disheartening to hear of a local business closing, whatever the reason,” Debergh told the Sydenham Current.

“We must always remember to support our local businesses.”

Messages to corporate representatives with The Mufflerman have yet to be returned.
