Minimal parking on streets requested ahead of storm

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Public Works Department is asking for the public’s support to minimize parking on municipal streets, ahead of Wednesday’s snow storm.

Municipal officials say heavy snowfall accumulation of 10 to 15 cm is expected to continue throughout the evening. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning across Chatham-Kent.

“Emergency vehicles, citizens and local businesses all depend on streets and roads to be clear for passage,” municipal officials said in a press release.

“This action will enable snow ploughs to clear away the snow and ice as safely and efficiently as possible. Please be patient and keep a safe distance behind working snow plows and avoid passing a snow plow.”

“This may still be invoked if the snowfall is heavier than forecasted,” municipal officials said.
