Pedestrian vs. vehicle collision in Blenheim turns fatal

A collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on Wednesday in Blenheim has turned fatal.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say emergency crews responded to the collision at 10 p.m. on December 27 on Talbot Trail, west of Fargo Road.

Police allege a 53-year-old Blenheim woman was walking in an east bound direction on Talbot Trail when she was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction.

The driver of the vehicle was a 68-year-old Morpeth woman.

The Blenheim woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and then transferred to London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Campus with serious injuries.

Police say the following morning, as a result of her injuries, the Blenheim woman died.

“Out of respect for the family, the woman’s name will not be released at this time,” Chatham-Kent Police Service officials stated in a press release.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service wishes to pass along sincere condolences to the family.”

The investigation remains on-going by the CKPS Traffic Management Unit.
