Drug and assault charges laid in Wallaceburg

A man is in custody after drug and assault charges were laid in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Wallaceburg.

Police officials allege that through investigation, officers learned that the man assaulted his girlfriend and caused damage to her apartment.

The man fled prior to police arrival, however, he was located and arrested a short time later.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

The 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault, mischief under $5,000 and drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
