Herman “Harm” Johan VanderKley of Wallaceburg

Herman “Harm” Johan VanderKley, a resident of Wallaceburg, died peacefully in hospital in Chatham, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the age of 91.

Harm is the son of the late Herman & Johanna Emilie (Sonnenman) VanderKley. Beloved husband of Sophia (Ladru). Loving father of Roland VanderKley (Tami Debot) and Jacqueline Janssens (Scott). Dear grandfather of Derrick (Kristin), Trevor (Lavahn), Corey and Carley and great grandfather of Brayden, Xavier, Ryatt, Emerson and Layla. Brother of Lies Claessen (Han) of the Netherlands. Predeceased by his niece Marjolein and nephew Hans Peter Claessen of the Netherlands.

Harm worked at Eaton Yale for many years and enjoyed a long retirement. Harm was amazing, kind, fun and a loving family man. He enjoyed playing ping pong and soccer with his kids, family outings to the beach, fishing, travelling, word searches, reading, listening to classical music, working in his garden, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and hanging out with the love of his life, Sophia, his wife of 63 years.

A private family visiting and burial will be held. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg.
