Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham-Kent woman is facing an assault charge after police say she struck a teenage girl in the face during an unprovoked attack in Dresden late Thursday.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a report of an assault between two strangers on North Street at approximately 11:43 p.m. on Aug. 6. Investigators say the victim, a 17-year-old girl from Florence, was walking when she was approached by a 34-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent, who struck her in the face.
Police say the victim suffered minor injuries and did not require further medical attention. The accused was located a short time later and arrested.
She has been charged with one count of assault and is being held for a bail hearing at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters.
