The governing Liberals have finally announced their candidate in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex for the 2018 Ontario election.
Cambridge resident Ryan O’Hagan has taken on the task.
O’Hagan, who grew up in Strathroy, graduated from Western University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Education and has been teaching since.
He is currently a Social Sciences teacher with the Avon Maitland District School Board teaching Sociology, Anthropology, and Psychology and Geography, his website states.
“This is a community in which I am deeply invested,” O’Hagan said on a video post on social media.
“I am really concerned with the upcoming election looming, a Doug Ford government is going to mean cuts we are not prepared to take. It’s going to mean cuts to public sector jobs. It’s going to mean cuts for nurses, teachers, teaching assistants and educational assistants.”
O’Hagan added: “These are concerns because in our community, these are jobs that are relied on. We know that Doug Ford is planning on cutting $6-billion in undisclosed deficiencies, but the question remains where is that coming from. We haven’t heard an answer to that question yet. I am hoping to change this riding red. It is really important now more than ever we vote for proven leadership in this area.”
O’Hagan is holding an event at Crabby Joe’s in Strathroy on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
O’Hagan joins Monte McNaughton, the incumbent MPP for the Ontario PC Party, Todd Case, the NDP candidate, Brian Everaert, the Trillium Party of Ontario candidate and Brad Greulich, the Ontario Libertarian Party candidate, who are all in the running this election.

The event is being organized by the Wallaceburg-Walpole Island First Nation Health Coalition and the Chatham-Kent Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
Anyone in the public is welcome to attend the debate.
