The theme Catholic Education Week 2018, which will be celebrated from May 6 to 11, is Renewing the Promise.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board will join with other Catholic school boards across the province to celebrate the significant contribution that Catholic education has made in our communities, the province and to Canada.
The 2018 theme speaks to the unique mission of Catholic education in Ontario, the importance of its shared leadership by all those involved in Catholic education – the home, school and parish.
There are five sub-themes, which will help staff and students to reflect more fully on what Renewing the Promise means to them:
– Day 1: Remembering the Promise
– Day 2: The Promise is With You
– Day 3: Praying the Promise
– Day 4: Living the Promise
– Day 5: Proclaiming the Promise
“This special observance is an opportunity each year to pause and reflect on the importance of Catholic education in our schools and our communities,” says Deb Crawford, Director of Education.
“Through the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, our students become faith-filled life-long learners, caring family members and responsible citizens, who give back to the communities in which we live.”
Special activities were planned at each of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board schools to mark Catholic Education Week.
Some activities celebrated their faith; some focused on learning excellence through literacy and numeracy events, technology and celebrations of the arts; and others demonstrated their commitment to service through acts of charity.
