‘Volatile’ situation with weapons was unfounded

Sarnia Police Service officials allege on June 10, 2018, at approximately 3:30 pm, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a call regarding a disturbance in the 1400 block of Exmouth Street (north east of Lambton Mall).

Information received from the caller indicated that weapons were present in the residence and that the incident was very volatile.

Due to concern for public safety officers set up a perimeter regarding the residence in question and the Sarnia Police Service Emergency Response Team was also deployed to the call.

As the investigation continued it was determined that the information received was unfounded and all occupants of the residence were safe and sound.

At this this time members of the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch continue their investigation into the incident to determine the exact nature of the call.

Detective Sgt. Mike Kahnert of the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch is asking for the public’s assistance in this matter.
