Hearts are heavy with the Chatham-Kent Police Service after the passing of Constable Andrew Gaiswinkler.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constable Andrew Gaiswinkler yesterday following a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia,” Police officials said in a statement.

“Andrew has been a member of our Police Service since 2000 and was currently assigned to our Traffic Unit where he was one of only four Collision Reconstructionists. On behalf of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, we extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Kim, their children and entire family.”

Police officials added: “We would also like to thank the community for their support during our ‘Arms Out for Andrew’ blood donor clinics earlier this year. Our community has suffered a profound loss.”
