International Plowing Match and Rural Expo 2018 Barn Quilt Silent Auction

We have all seen the beautiful Barn Quilts across Chatham-Kent that are part of the Barn Quilt Trail. Have you ever wanted your own barn quilt? Here is your chance!

The 2018 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM 2018) Queen and Princess of the Furrow Committee is hosting a silent auction on a barn quilt designed specifically for the event coming to Chatham-Kent, Ontario, this September 18-22 in the community of Pain Court.

“Barn quilts tell stories and help bring communities together,” says Stephanie Campbell, Co-chair of the 2018 Queen and Princess of the Furrow Committee. “We hope to continue this tradition at IPM 2018, bringing people from across Ontario together to celebrate Canadian agriculture and the lifestyles of our communities.”

The 4 ft x 4 ft barn quilt is on display at the IPM 2018 Store at 934 Richmond St. in Chatham. Bidding can be done in the store, on the IPM 2018 Barn Quilt Auction Facebook Page, or by calling Stephanie Campbell at 519-365-5952. The auction will run from July 6, 2018 to August 11, 2018 and the barn quilt will be presented to the highest bidder at the Chatham-Kent Plowing Match Banquet to be held at the Country View Golf Course, Saturday August 11 at 5:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the sale of this quilt will be used to cover the expenses of running the 2018 Ontario Queen and Princess of the Furrow Competition. This competition runs from September 19-21 and will host 28 girls from across Ontario. Over the three days, they will plow, interview with a panel of judges, recite a speech on the main stage and participate in the Celebration of Excellence Gala on the Friday night.

This barn quilt was designed by Emma Richards – 2016-2018 Chatham-Kent Queen of the Furrow, Stephanie Campbell – IPM Queen and Princess of the Furrow Co-Chair, and Kyla Reid – Leader of the Chatham-Kent 4-H Community Heritage Barn Quilt Club. The quilt was painted by volunteers of the Chatham-Kent Plowmen’s Association, the IPM 2018 Queen and Princess of the Furrow Committee and the Chatham-Kent 4-H Community Heritage Barn Quilt Club. It is a true community project!
