Impaired driving charged laid on the 401

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege on September 19, 2018, around 11:15 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 near Victoria Road.

While speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was transported to detachment for further tests.

Upon further investigation, the male driver, a 56-year-old of Windsor, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

– Drive motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,

– Driving while ability impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,

– Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act,

– Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and

– Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 10, 2018 to answer to the charges.
