Knight told the Sydenham Current the award is prestigious and not easy to win.

“I was truly honoured to receive this, but I give a lot of credit to my wife for allowing me to do my thing every summer,” he said.

“Shani sacrificed a lot for me to volunteer all those hours.”

Knight said earning the award made him go back and look at old team pictures and see all the assistants that helped me a long the way, including Justin Durston, Marv Barr and Gord Lilley.

“Now I coach with Justin, Jordan (Durston), Joel (Shepley) and Kirby (Celotto). It makes me extremely happy to see how big of an impact they all made on lacrosse as well.”

Knight was was also recently recognized as the winner of the Chamber Choice Award at the annual Business and Community Excellence Awards organized by the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce.
