Mr. Gerhard “Geri” Nowakowski, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance “Chatham Campus” at the age of 79 years, after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Hannover, Germany and was the son of the late Fred and Rose (Schwarze) Nowakowski.
Beloved husband of Uta (Dünnebeil) Nowakowski.
Loving father and father-in-law of Mark (Betty) Nowakowski, Phyllis (Annmarie) Nowakowski and Peytra Nowakowski.
Loving grandfather of Ryan (Mallory), Ally (Jordan), Gina (Mike), Candice (Chris), and Cedar, Gideon, Morgana, and Gryffin; great-grandfather of Anna, Ben, Clara and Lewis.
Kind brother and brother-in-law of Evelyn (Ron) Janssens and predeceased sister Sylvia (Paul) Glasgow.
Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and extended families.
Geri was a member of Trinity United Church. He would be well remembered as Service Manager of local Volkswagen and Ford dealerships; and for his long time dedication to, and leadership in, the Wallaceburg Soccer Association. Geri enjoyed his active participation in Ballroom Dancing, tennis, badminton, pickle ball, and table tennis.
The late Gerhard Nowakowski rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St. Wallaceburg, 519-627-2861.
Following his wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Private gathering will be held at a later date.
