Thiessen Apple Orchards donated apples to Wallaceburg schools this week.

Allan Davies, the Chatham-Kent Student Nutrition Coordinator, said the apples went to the schools for their nutrition programs and their classrooms.

“Each school received a variety of 20 lbs. bags of apples for their students,” Davies said.

“Apples were also distributed to local Wallaceburg food banks.”

Davies said the food is needed.

“Kids are coming to school hungry each day for a variety of reasons,” he said.

“Thiessen Orchards are making a difference.”

Participating schools, include: A. A. Wright Public School, Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Christ the King Catholic School, St. Elizabeth Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School and H.W. Burgess Public School.
