baCK Home for the Holidays

(come baCK)

The Community Attraction and Promotion section through its Resident Attraction and Retention area is delighted to once again host the annual ‘baCK to Chatham-Kent’ Home for the Holidays celebration.

Mayor Canniff launched the month-long celebration of people who have chosen to come baCK to Chatham-Kent with a flag raising on Thursday, December 6.

The baCK initiative was launched in 2013 and aims to encourage those originally from the area to consider returning by sharing stories of people who have made the decision to come baCK to Chatham-Kent and showcasing the opportunities here.

“In order to strengthen Chatham-Kent and position it for the future, it is important that we celebrate, connect with, and welcome those who add to the vibrancy of the community. That is why we celebrate baCK Home for the Holidays and support returning families and individuals in becoming more connected to the great things Chatham-Kent has to offer,” stated Mayor Canniff.

Those featured in this campaign highlight their reasons for returning and their favourite aspects of living in Chatham-Kent.

“I was surprised at how much I had actually missed about being away from home! After living in various places away from Chatham for so many years, it was refreshing to return to so many familiar sights while having the opportunity to experience some of the new things the city has to offer. This small town has so much to offer already, and so much promise for great things to come,” says Jenny Doyle who moved baCK to raise her family and work as an Early Childhood Educator.

Thank you to all of the individuals and organizations who participated in this campaign since its launch,” said Victoria Bodnar, Coordinator of Resident Attraction and Retention.
