The Wallaceburg Lakers Atom Girls recently took home gold from the 20th annual B.A.D. Girls Hockey Tournament.

Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association officials say the girls faced some tough competition, resulting in exciting, action-packed hockey games.

The girls played tough, defensive hockey throughout the tournament, with goalie Renee Trella allowing only two goals in five games.

Their hard work, persistence, and teamwork took them all the way to the championship game, where they claimed a 2-0 win against a strong North Middlesex team.

“A special thanks to all the coaches who have worked so hard to develop these young skaters into skilled hockey players, and even better teammates,” Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association officials said in an online post.

“The girls worked incredibly hard this weekend, and winning the tournament was a true team effort. WMHA is very proud of our Atom Girls achievements this past weekend.”
