Special weather statement

A special weather statement has been issued, as there is a threat of freezing rain for Wednesday.

Environment Canada officials say freezing rain is expected to affect Southwestern Ontario Wednesday as another large low pressure system brewing over the Southern Plains States moves towards the Great Lakes.

“Most areas will get a brief period of snow, followed by a quick transition to freezing rain Wednesday afternoon,” forecasters say.

“Freezing rain or freezing drizzle will change to occasional rain or drizzle later Wednesday afternoon over extreme Southwestern Ontario, and Wednesday night elsewhere as temperatures edge above the zero degree mark.”

Untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery and travel may be affected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
