Wallaceburg Concert Band holds Family Day brunch

By Rori Bennett – Junior Reporter

Children and families gathered at The Clubhouse at Baldoon on Monday, February 18, for a Family Day brunch in support of the Wallaceburg Concert Band.

“This brunch is just a fundraiser for our community band, to purchase new instruments and to fund the purchase of new music,” Dave Babbitt, conductor for the Wallaceburg Concert Band, told the Sydenham Current.

“Running a band is very very expensive, for example we just bought new music stands… and those were thousands of dollars that was spent. We are trying to outfit the band slowly but surely. This is just a fundraiser to help with that.”

An all-you can-eat brunch was provided for $20.

Included in the ticket price was the chance to win any of the 19 door prizes donated from different businesses in the Wallaceburg area, with draws taking place every 20 minutes.

Many donations were made on Monday and more donations can be made by attending any performance by the Wallaceburg Concert Band.
