The #3 seeded Dresden Kings drew first blood in their Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division semi-final series against the #2 ranked Lakeshore Canadiens.
Dresden blanked Lakeshore by a score of 3-0.
Brett Brochu stopped all 27 shots he faced for the shutout.
The rookie goaltender was named the game’s first star.
After a scoreless first period, Elijah Duquette opened the scoring at the 13:51 mark of the second period. TJ Saunby and Darien Davis assisted on what would become the game winning goal.
Lucas Spence scored at the 16:36 mark of the third period, with Eric Carter and Nolan Ross picking up assists.
Greg Hay scored on the powerplay at the 18:20 mark of the final frame, with Ross and Spence picking up assists.
Dresden out-shot Lakeshore 31-27.
Game #2 in the series goes tonight, Wednesday, Feb 20, in Dresden.
