Here is some background on Rood, according to her website:

As the eldest child of four, Lianne grew up on a one thousand acre vegetable farm just south of Grand Bend, Ontario. After receiving an Honours Bachelor Degree in Criminology and Sociology from the University of Windsor in 2002, she worked in Ottawa as a political staffer for the Stephen Harper Government. Lianne is proud to have begun her career on Parliament Hill in Ottawa working for a very principled man Bev Shipley.

During Lianne’s six year tenure in Ottawa, she worked as a legislative assistant for Chris Warkentin from Peace River Alberta, and for David Anderson from Cypress Hills-Grasslands Saskatchewan as his assistant in his capacity as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and for the Canadian Wheat Board. While working for the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture, Lianne assisted in developing the Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, Bill C-19. Western Canadian farmers wanted the freedom to choose who they sold their crops to and Lianne assisted them, advocating for their needs. Lianne understands the complexities of farming and the need for tangible results. She has been able to deliver these results.

In varying capacities Lianne has worked on over a dozen federal political campaigns since 1997. She has been a member of the board of directors for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Conservative Electoral District Association, a three- term President of Vancouver South Conservative E.D.A., a member of the board of directors of the Non- Partisan Association, and a founding director of Coalition Vancouver municipal political party.

Lianne has also been a member of the executive committee and Senior Event Manager for the Canadian National Prayer Breakfast since 2006. As a Christian, she feels that life is sacred.

Lianne has listened to the diverse voices of both urban and rural Canadians. Lianne knows that she can continue to be a hard working individual who serves the needs of the people of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
